Booking opens for online OPHI Summer School 2021
Booking has opened for the OPHI Summer School 2021: Multidimensional Poverty Measurement and Analysis, which will take place online this August.
The OPHI Summer School is an annual course which provides participants with a technical and practical introduction to multidimensional poverty measurement using the Alkire-Foster method. The course draws on Amartya Sen’s capability approach and examples of national and global Multidimensional Poverty Indices (MPIs) to explore the conceptual and empirical motivation for measuring multidimensional poverty and to illustrate the full suite of measurement tools.
Beijing, Jakarta and Mexico City are some of the previous cities where the Summer School has been held since it began in 2008. This year’s course will be online on account of the pandemic. The course consists of two weeks of instruction and working group sessions, taught in English.
The Summer School is aimed at those working on, or actively interested in gaining skills in multidimensional poverty measurement, such as professional staff of national offices of statistics and government ministries that deal with poverty reduction, professionals from international development institutions, academics, and doctoral students.
The deadline for applications will be late-June.
