As the MPhil in Development Studies in our Department turns 20, OPHI – the Oxford Poverty & Human Development Initiative – turns a mere 10. So on the eve of the MPhil workshop, OPHI invited MPhil students who were returning to celebrate this anniversary to an evening briefing on global poverty. We reviewed how the landscape of work to fight poverty in its many dimensions has evolved over the past decade from the sidelines to the SDGs. And we discussed what we should do now, at this juncture, to keep advancing these issues with the urgency, partnership, and attentiveness they yet require.

Conversation continued over a reception in which there were opportunities to engage OPHI’s team and provide particular input by region or topic – and catch up with friends before sauntering off for a meal.
