OPHI Lunchtime Seminar Series – Hilary Term 2012

OPHI’s Oxford seminar series resumes on Mondays between 23 January and 5 March 2012. All seminars will take place at 13:00-14:00 in Seminar Room 3, Oxford Department of International Development, Queen Elizabeth House, 3 Mansfield Road, Oxford. OX1 3TB. There are no seminars on the 13th and 20th of February.

Speakers will include Sabina Alkire, OPHI’s Director; Nicholas Ruiz, OECD; and OPHI researchers Suman Seth, Paola Ballon and Sebastian Silvia Leander. For dates, time and topics visit our section on OPHI seminars.

Latest Publications

Measurement Errors and Multidimensional Poverty Data measurement errors can cause an upward bias in unidimensional poverty estimates and thus mislead both conceptual and empirical discussions. This paper expands the analysis to the case of multidimensional poverty. It finds that the dual cut-off strategy used by the Alkire-Foster measure typically attenuates this bias. Empirical evidence from Peru supports this attenuation effect. Read more
